NFCAA is now taking applications for the 2011 Data Busters program, a summer program for 14- to 16-year-olds that combines classroom instruction with practical paid work experience. Data Busters is offered in Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties. Deadline to submit an application is March 31.

NFCAA can now help more Northeast Florida residents who struggle to pay home energy bills. NFCAA recently received an additional $2.8 million for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, bringing total program funding to $8.5 million.

98 Duval County teens celebrated their completion of Data Busters, a computer and job skills program that prepares teens for future employment. A total of 210 teens completed the program in Baker, Clay, Nassau, Flagler, Putnam, and St. Johns counties.

The Northeast Florida Community Action Agency received $4.3 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for its weatherization program, which provides free energy-related home repairs for low income residents. NFCAA is now seeking eligible homeowners in Baker, Duval, Flagler, Nassau and Putnam counties to apply for the program.

As we enjoy our first taste of cool weather, now is the time to start thinking of weatherizing our homes. Today the Northeast Florida Community Action Agency (NFCAA) observed weatherization day in Duval County. Many residents can't afford to make repairs that will increase their homes' energy efficiency. But eligible families can get help through the NFCAA's weatherization program.
